Oz staying fit through her pregnancy: Despite the many challenges presented by being pregnant, Oz didn't stop being fit, strong, and healthy. She maintained her fitness and continued to come to the gym until just days before giving birth to her son. Amazingly, she was back in the gym just several weeks later. Truly incredible!
Carl's transformation: These photos were taken just 12 weeks apart. They pretty much speak for themselves. Carl continues to challenge himself in the gym on a regular basis; in fact, he's come a long way since this after-picture.
Dan's 500 lb deadlift: Pretty awesome!
Robby's improvements in mobility: Robby has worked hard to improve his flexibility on a regular basis, and it shows. To those of you who are already flexible, this may not sound like a lot, but drastic improvements in flexibility don't come easily. They come through putting in lots of time and effort, sitting in sometimes very uncomfortable positions for lengths of time. Nice work Robby! Too bad this isn't a before and after pic of the front rack position!
Kayla's qualification for nationals: Despite being a full time nursing student and working part time, this girl makes no excuses. Through her positive attitude and hard work, Kayla has reached best lifts of a 140 lb snatch and 171 lb clean and jerk, weighing less than 125 lbs!
Lauren's 300 lb deadlift: If you had the pleasure of meeting Lauren before she moved to San Diego, you know how much great energy she brought to the gym. This girl trains hard! Even after leaving PCCF, she stayed on her pursuit of a 300 lb deadlift, and with lots of time and effort, she made it happen!
Dwight's transformation: Dwight came to PCCF with an open mind, a positive attitude, and ready for change. Over the course of a year, Dwight has worked to get into the best shape of his life by consistently pushing himself and resolving to improve and never look back.
Steve and Sue's consistent attendance: If you come to the gym in the morning, then you definetly know at least one of these two, because they rarely ever miss a day. They are two of our original members from when PCCF first opened our doors over two years ago. They were willing to give us a try, and they have stuck with us since! Both of their transformations have been quite amazing.
Michael's 230 clean and jerk: For a guy that weighs 130 lbs, a 230 lb. clean and jerk is beyond impressive; it's amazing. This kind of lift isn't something that just happens. No one trains harder or more than Michael. He goes and goes and goes. He is currently 6 lbs away from qualifying for nationals. Here is a picture of him cleaning 225...wearing a wig.
I knew I needed to do something to get in better shape. My weight had jumped to 218 pounds, and I was always tired. I’d come home from work and I’d barely have enough energy to play with my daughter. I wasn’t eating all that great, and my exercise regimen was non-existent. Lately, I had been getting sick once a month, which I attributed to having a small child in daycare plus working in an office environment. Approaching 40, I knew I needed to do something drastic, or possibly suffer health issues in the future.
A couple friends of mine were members of crossfit. They would rave how wonderful it was and how great they felt. Both were also following the Paleo Diet, and the results were obvious. After much research, I decided to jump in and join a crossfit and try the Paleo Diet. Crossfit appealed to me because the exercises (WOD’s) are set up for you so there is no guesswork. Every day is something new. I didn’t have to try to figure out what exercise I needed to do like when I was a member at other “Globo” gyms.
I started the Paleo Diet and joined Port City Crossfit on March 12. I was extremely nervous walking into Port City Crossfit, but Keith immediately put me at ease. For the first two weeks, I learned basic movement of various exercises (back squat, front squat, dead lift, hang clean, etc…;). After the initial introductory period, I was able to take part in the full WOD’s.
Over the past three months, I have seen and felt a dramatic change in me. I have lost 28 pounds, and went from squeezing in a size 36 pants to now wearing a 33. I have also gained much strength and stamina in those 3 short months. I could barely do one dead hang pull-up when I started, and now can do 10. I continue to set PR’s (personnal records) and my endurance has increased. Now, I go home after a workout and have plenty of energy to play with my daughter
Port City Crossfit and the Paleo Diet have changed my life for the better. I look forward to my workouts (never thought I’d say that), and go to crossfit 5 days a week. I haven’t gotten sick once since I changed my diet and started working out. I am in the best shape of my life, including the 5 years I spent in the Army. Consistently going to crossfit and giving everything that I had at the workouts has definitely paid off. Crossfit isn’t easy. But nothing worth having ever is.
The right people: Keith and Tracey have worked hard to get where they are as certified Crossfit trainers. They are incredibly knowledgeable and it is clear that they enjoy passing on what they know to help everyone be the best they can be. Every day brings something new, and each day I know that they will be focused on making sure we are performing every step of the workout correctly for maximum benefit and so that no one gets hurt. Not only do they teach proper form and technique, but they are also continuously trying to improve themselves. It means a great deal to me to see that they are always looking to be better, too. Every time I work with them, I find a new reason to be inspired and motivated. Whatever I decide my next goal might be, I know that they can help me to achieve it.
I love to workout and feel good but I could never find the perfect gym or workout that was enjoyable and showed results. During my short time at Crossfit I have fallen in love. It is truly the bright ending to my day and after keeping track of all my workouts I have alreay seen improvements. I am only twenty five and sometimes running up the stairs with all my work bags put me out of breathe but I have alreay overcome that and I feel great! My favorite things about Port City Crossift would have to number one be the trainers. They are amazing to work with and I enjoy having somone that keeps me going throughout the workout! Second the gym is awesome the large windows bring in natural light and keeps you from feeling like you are stuck in a boring gym and lastly I love that everyday I go in it will be a new workout so it never gets old! I would recommend Port City Crossfit to anyone!
Port City Crossfit is by far an outstanding, comprehensive fitness program that can be applied to nearly everyone. I have been a member of several CF gyms, visited CF gyms across America and even some abroad. What separates the quality of the each gym is the ability of the trainers to communicate with their trainees in manner that targets their individual needs. Equally important is the coaches understanding of fitness concepts, how they apply to crossfit and how to use that knowledge to meet each individuals goals. Both of these qualities can be found in abundance at Port City Crossfit. Keep up the great work guys! Thanks!
