New jerk blocks! You guys are the best!
Celebrating 2 years of Port City CrossFit
Two years ago Tracey and I opened this gym with a group of five members in a tiny 1500 square foot gym. We didn't have a lot of space or fancy equipment, just a commitment to always give our best and help anyone and everyone that came through our doors. We knew that we would be competing for members with other gyms in town much bigger than us, yet we were both confident in our dream to make Port City CrossFit grow...and grow it did. We quickly began needing more space, and moved to our current location...nearly twice the size of our previous one. We are now over 80 members strong and steadily growing. Although Tracey is no longer with PCCF, she will always be a part of what has made this gym great.
It's not easy to define one thing that makes Port City CrossFit what it is. That's because it is the sum of all of its parts that come together to make it unique and awesome. Each and every person that makes the commitment, contributes their peice to this gym. Some people will lighten the mood with a joke, others will offer kind words of encouragement to a new member, and others may push through a workout silently, but setting a sound example for others to follow. Everyone contributes. The many faces and personalities of this gym give it a feel that is warm and welcoming, yet lets you know that when you walk through the doors, you are going to be pushed to your limits.
Over the years, I have had the pleasure of working with many amazing people. I am proud to say that some of the most hard working, dedicated, and caring people that I know are members of this gym. I have seen people who never before believed in themselves become conquerors of pull-ups, hand-stand push-ups and deadlifts in the hundreds of pounds. I have seen people come together to help one another through hard times. I have seen people who care about their community, their friends, their family, and this gym. I have also seen people who thought they had it all figured out, reduced to a sweaty mess on the floor. But most of all, I have seen people with energy, ethusiasm, and hunger for life come through these doors everyday, and for that, I thank you.
For me personally, coming to this gym everyday is a dream come true. The satisfaction I get from seeing each person in this gym grow is profound. Being able to share my passion and to help others grow on a daily basis is one of the greatest feelings I can imagine. Thanks for choosing me to be a part of your journey.
